In the nineties the gold sector in Burkina became subject to internationally prescribed liberalization policies. The national state is at present only one of many players. Who are these players, and how are they involved with one another in organizing goldmining activities and prospects in Burkina? One mining site serves as a case to study the scope of players and the types of authorities they build upon in governing gold sites. What conclusions can be drawn in regard to the present position of the Burkinabe state within this field of governing authorities?

Selective flotation of muscovite from a material containing muscovite (15.4%), biotite (13%), and siliceous gangue (quartz and feldspar), using a mixed collector system of sodium oleate and dodecylamine acetate has been described. Muscovite is found to float in preference to biotite, when the pulp is initially conditioned with oleate followed by amine at basic pH values. The results indicate that a product containing 63% muscovite with a recovery of 93% can be obtained, while using 75-150glt of oleate and 96 g/t of amine. The biotite grade and recovery are found to be around 30% and 20%, respectively. A good selectivity between muscovite and siliceous gangue is obtained. A final product containing 95% muscovite with an overall recovery of 75% is obtained when the flotation concentrate is subjected to magnetic separation. These studies indicate the possibility of separating muscovite from biotite by using a mixture of collectors.

BACKGROUND The development of public transportation in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area is, as in other cities, closely tied to the development of the area because of increases in population and commercial and industrial activity. Local transportation first appeared in the area in the 1870s when the population was fewer than 10,000 residents. Around 1910, after many consolidations of competitive interests, two large railway companies were formed: The Los Angeles Railway, which provided urban transportation in the Los Angeles City area, and the Pacific Electric Railway, which primarily provided suburban and interurban transportation. These two entities continued with their operations until after World War II, when the ownership passed on to the Los Angeles Transit Lines and the Metropolitan Coach Lines, respectively. By then the railroads needed new equipment, track rehabilitation, and, of course, more money-paying patrons. Lack of grade separation of railway facilities from other traffic increased commute times and encouraged travel by private automobiles. The romantic era of hopping on a Pacific Electric Company "Big Red Car" was coming to an end. As early as 1917, in fact, bus lines were substituted for unprofitable rail service. The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (LMTA) was established in 1951 by the California Legislature to study and plan for improvements in the public transportation facilities in the Los Angeles area. In March of 1958 the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority took over the operation of the two lines.

The Emerald Mine No. 1, located in southwestern Pennsylvania is presently owned and operated by Cyprus Minerals of Englewood, Colorado. High volatile bituminous coal is produced from the Pittsburgh No. 8 seam by both longwall and continuous mining methods. The coal is then mechanically cleaned on site utilizing a combination of heavy media separation and froth flotation methods prior to shipment to both the metallurgical and steam coal markets. The Emerald Mine is presently producing 2.8 million raw tons per year, while liberating approximately 6.5 million ft per day of methane. In light of the methane liberation rate, ventilation requirements have been significant and have always received utmost priority and consideration. Figure 1 shows the locations of the current and proposed shafts. Emerald utilizes two Joy (Model M120-58-880) axial vane fans on shafts No. 1, No. 2R, No. 3R. (one operational, one stand-by) The use of computer simulation of various ventilation networks was initially employed during the design stages (1975-1977) and has been utilized through the present. Obviously, the initial planning, under the ownership of Lykes Resources, was strictly theoretical. All the quantities were proposed and the resistances were based on prior simulations of other mines and mathematical formulas. However, once the mine was moderately developed, actual values were recorded and utilized. In this paper, the old and the new commercially available reagent chemistries for the improved flotation of sulfide minerals will be summarized. The reagent classes discussed are those that meet three criteria: 1) they are being commercially used and/or large scale plant tested in North America in the last few years; 2) they are clearly different in chemical structure than commonly used commercial reagents of the last few decades and are not simply mixtures of existing reagents and/or simple changes in cation, alkyl group size, etc. and 3) the structural formulae are clearly specified in the public literature.

I welcome this opportunity to give a Congressman's birdseye view of a subject which I believe holds great potential for the future in helping meet the needs of people, with minimal adverse impact on the environment. All mankind, not just the people in this great nation, faces the need for additional usable space. In some parts of the United States the problem arises from rapid urbanization of the surface and little utilization of the subsurface. Everywhere there is an increasing problem of insufficient space arising out of the increasing population crush and growing demands for open space, housing, water, transportation, communication, and social service. You are the technicians to whom we look for assistance in finding answers. We look to you also to provide guidance for broad policy decisions concerning underground space. I prepared for a career practicing law, but since 1952 I have been a member of the House of Representatives. In this latter capacity I deal with programs designed to help solve all kinds of problems. But, naturally, I am especially interested in the water scarcity and other environmental problems of my home state of Arizona and the arid and semi-arid areas in the West. This North American Rapid Excavation and Tunneling Conference has as its theme: "Tomorrow's Tunneling Technology Today." I have a very great interest in this potential of our underground space resource. The Central Arizona Project now getting underway in my state will consist in part of tunnels and underground pipelines to convey life-sustaining water from the Colorado River to people and lands across Arizona to the Phoenix and Tucson areas.

Mercury contamination is a worldwide problem in the mining, smelting, and refining of gold, silver, and copper. In these areas, mercury may be found as a naturally-occurring material in ores and concentrates, and/or in secondary feedstocks such as leach residues, pyrometallurgical treatment residues, refinery by­products, electrowinning electrodes, autoclave discharge solids, and waste water and acid plant sludges. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has designated mercury one of the most harmful heavy metal contaminant in the environment and has implemented regulations that prohibit land disposal of characteristically hazardous wastes containing greater than 0.20 mg/1 TCLP mercury without prior treatment, thus increasing the cost of managing these materials. The presence of mercury in mine, smelter, and refinery by­products and wastes severely decreases, and in some cases eliminates, the ability to recover residual metal values from the contaminated material. The lost revenue associated with this disposal, combined with the increased direct cost of waste treatment, and/or disposal and protecting workers and the environment, can adversely affect overall profitability. The safe, efficient, and economical removal of mercury from gold, silver, and copper mining by-products requires a treatment process that is capable of liberating the mercury from the wide variety of compounds and matrices in which it may be contained, reducing the mercury content in the matrix to desired levels, and recovering the mercury in pure saleable form, without producing any secondary solid, liquid, or gaseous wastes. This paper reviews results from commercial operations and pilot scale tests using a thermal process owned and operated by Mercury Recovery Services, Inc. (MRS) to remove and recover mercury from copper acid plant blowdown sludge, Merrill­Crowe precipitate from gold/silver mining operations, and Cottrell and salt slag dusts from a precious metals refinery.

The ASTM standard method D 5744-96 was developed to provide a well-defined kinetic test protocol, conducted under controlled reaction conditions, with the intent of generating reproducible results. The US Bureau of Land Management, American Assay Laboratories, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources cooperated in a intralaboratory and interlaboratory testing of the protocol. Intralaboratory testing was conducted on duplicate samples of gabbro (8) and siltite-argillite (5) rocks for periods of 20 to 125 weeks. The difference between replica& intralaboratory pH readings on drainage from the gabbro for the drip-trickle leach alternative typically did not exceed 0.1 units, although differences as high as 0.4 units were observed. The difference from the mean for rates of sulfate, calcium and magnesium release was typically within 10%. Intralaboratory results for the siltite-argillite samples were generally similar, although a one unit pH difference was observed for one sample. Three different laboratories tested a gabbro sample for 125 weeks, with a maximum difference from the mean pH of 0.5 units. The percent difference from the mean for sulfate and calcium release rates was typically within lo%, although values as high as 30% were observed. Data on intralaboratory and interlaboratory agreement on the flood rinse alternative of the method were limited. Replication on the sample tested was comparable to of better than that observed for the drip-trickle method testing of the same sample.

INTRODUCTION The discovery of oil and gas reserves in the North American Arctic has led to substantial thought being given to their development. Systems adequate for exploration are not always, or even often, suitable for permanent installations. Combinations of offshore pipeline, drilling ships, platforms, sub-sea systems, sand islands and -ice island bases have been proposed. However, conditions in the Arctic are such that these methods may be difficult or impossible to implement. Problems exist with (1) the freezing of the Arctic Ocean surface for 9 - 10 months per year, (2) the movement of sea ice, (3) scouring of bottom sediments by ice islands and icebergs to great depths below the ocean bottom and (4) deep water channels. Any method which can avoid the problems associated with surface construction in these very adverse conditions merits detailed examination. One of the proposed solutions is to tunnel from a convenient or available access point to a point within the field, construct a chamber large enough to accommodate the drilling equipment and drill the development wells in a protected environment. Service and delivery lines would use the access tunnel and further tunnels and chambers would be constructed in a radiating pattern to develop the whole field. In order to determine the feasibility of underground construction in the North American Arctic, it is first necessary to understand the geologic and environmental factors which would affect such construction, to be knowledgeable concerning the problems and then to consider the techniques appropriate to the conditions which will be encountered, bearing in mind the need to minimize both con-

Derivatised 2,4-diketopyrimidine groups have been anchored to planar gold surfaces as self¬-assembled monolayers (SAMs) for chemical and photochemical studies. Three derivatives, 5-methyluracil (thymine), 5-trifluoromethyluracil and 5-nitrouracil, were chosen for the specific moiety present at position C-5, which can exert strong or weak inductive effects on the adjacent aromatic ring. The measured acidity constants decrease from 5-methyluracil to 5-nitrouracil as the inductive properties of the group at C-5 position increase. When grafted to the surface the acidity constants increase, albeit still adhering to the expected inductive trend. The functionality also exerts an influence on the surface wetting properties. Surface wettabilities indicate that the orientation of the pyrimidine groups at the surface occurs so that the C-5 position has a direct effect upon the surface chemistry. Upon dimerisation the surface contact angles increase signifi¬cantly. At pH 11 the contact angle changes reflect that the dimer has a higher pKa than the monomer. The monomer surface is deprotonated at this pH while the dimer surface is partially deprotonated, leading to changes in contact angle of up to 22 degrees. Large changes in contact angle were observed for 5-nitrouracil which were independent of surface charge and were appar¬ently due to conformational changes alone. Electrowetting of three fluoropolymer surfaces by electrolyte solutions was studied with the sessile drop method. The electrowetting curve (contact angle/potential) is analogous to the elec¬trocapillary curve (surface tension/potential) and may be described by a combination of the Young and Lippmann equations. We demonstrate that for some specific surfaces a systematic deviation occurs at positive potentials. This departure is attributed to double layer effects, namely the adsorption of hydroxide and halide anions. pH, ionic strength and polymer composi¬tion can all influence electrowetting behaviour.

INTRODUCTION The Keystone Tunnel project consists of widening an existing 7.3 m-wide (24 ft) highway tunnel to a width of 13.7 m (45 ft) to provide a three-lane, two-directional highway tunnel. The 13.7 m-wide tunnel was excavated in a staged drill-and-blast sequence through foliated schist, and was supported using pattern rock reinforcement and shotcrete. Notable project features are: the low vertical cover over the tunnel is less than the span of the opening; the project is the second instance where the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has accepted rock reinforcement as a permanent support element; and the project is the first instance where the FHWA is accepting shotcrete as the final interior surface of the tunnel. This paper covers the design and construction phases of the project. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) retained Woodward-Clyde Consultants (WCC) to evaluate the feasibility, prepare construction plans and specifications, and provide construction management services for the widening of the Keystone Tunnel. The tunnel is located in the Black Hills National Forest area of South Dakota near the southwest corner of the state. The Keystone Tunnel is on U.S. Highway 16A, about 0.8 km (1/2 mile) north of Keystone which is approximately 32 km (20 miles) south of Rapid City (Figure 1). Highway 16A serves as an important transportation link between Rapid City and the Mount Rushmore National Monument which is located about 2 miles west of Keystone. INTRODUCTION In the fall of 1983, the fourth new Rapid Transit System constructed in this country in the last forty years will go into revenue service. The Baltimore Metro will bring to this major Mid-Atlantic seaport the first phase of a planned intermodal transit system, serving a metropolitan area with a population in excess of four million people. Originally, the Mass Transit Administration (MTA) considered construction of a twenty-eight mile system known as Phase 1. Its two lines would run from the center of Baltimore City, one going northwest to Owings Mills and the other south to Anne Arundel County. Legislative approval was granted in April, 1976; however, funding was limited to constructing a segment fewer than eight miles in length, along the northwest corridor from Charles Center to the Baltimore City county line. This segment is known as Section A. The project is 80% federally funded and 20% state funded, with a capital cost estimate of $797,000,000 to complete. This report addresses the development and implementation of a Coordinated Insurance Program for the construction phase of Section A, and includes a description of the associated risk management process. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF SECTION A Section A of the Baltimore Metro is composed of a rapid transit line eight miles in length which serves the northwest corridor between Charles Center in downtown Baltimore and Reisterstown Plaza at the Baltimore City county boundary. Future ore reserves of major gold producers in North America and elsewhere will consist of refractory gold ores. About 60 % of the current U.S. gold production is mined in Nevada. Several of the large gold operations in this state indicate that 40 to 90 % of their future ore feeds will contain refractory gold. To com­pound problems, average head grades for refractory U.S. gold ores had fallen from 8 - 9 g/mt to about 4 g/mt by 1991. In Latin America, 52 % of the gold operations will require milling for optimal recovery. Deeper reserves are, like in North America, refractory. Therefore a special treatment process is needed in order to allow for the gold ore to be leached downstream in a conven­tional cyanidation process for a high gold recovery. There are several options available for this oxidation process like treat­ment of the gold bearing ore in pressure oxidation, in a biooxi­dation or in a roasting plant depending on the reason for the refractoriness. If organic carbonaceous matters and sulfides are the prima­ry reasons for the refractoriness, whole ore roasting is a pre­ferred method for the treatment of this type of ore. Since dry ore is to feed to the roaster, a dry grinding mill is advantageous. For the dry grinding system, the moisture content and the ore char­acteristic is of importance. Those parameters decide the mode of the grinding system. For autoclave systems common wet grind­ing systems can be applied. This paper deals with technical aspects for dry grinding plants and gives an outlook on and pos­sibilities for new grinding systems.

INTRODUCTION In the USA regulatory agencies have adopted standards which limit the allowable concentration of ore dust in underground uranium mines. The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists has recommended a threshold limit value for silica which has been incorporated by reference in federal regulations (30 CFR 57, 1980). The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) imposes a limit for unprocessed uranium ore dust for reducing the exposure to radioactive materials from inhalation (10 CFR 20, 1980). We have been unable to trace the origin of the NRC standard. Recently the ICRP has published recommendations concerning limits for intakes of radionuclides by workers (ICRP, 1979). We have used the ICRP methodology to compute the dose equivalent commitment to lung and bone from inhalation of insoluble ore dust particles. These values were used to derive air concentrations which would provide an acceptable risk for induction of cancer from occupational exposure. Results indicate that the new ICRP recommendations are more restrictive than the present NRC standard for radioactivity. The maximum allowable dust load in a uranium mine will depend on both the concentration of silica (% Si02) and the amount of radioactivity (% U308). We have combined these standards assuming complete independence of biological hazard to establish boundary conditions for which either silica or radioactivity is the dominating factor. Based on these results we present suggestions for analysis of ore dust to insure compliance with regulatory agencies. SILICA STANDARDS Silicosis, fibrotic lung disease produced by crystalline silica, was one of the earliest forms of occupational disease to be recognized. The pulmonary lesions caused by silica, silicotic nodules, consist of concentrically arranged bundles of collagen fibers. Fusion of these nodules results in progressive massive fibrosis causing alveolar changes which decrease ventillation and blood flow in the lungs. The current Threshold Limit Value (TLV) for mineral dusts is based on the concentration of free silica. The standard is expressed in three forms: (1) Particle count standard: TLV (mppcf) = 300/(% Si02 + 10) (mppcf = million particles per cubic foot) (2) Respirable dust mass standard: TLV (mg/m3 ) = 10/(% respirable Si02 + 2) (3) Total dust standard: TLV (mg/m3 ) = 30/(% Si02 + 3) The most commonly used form is the respirable mass standard. These curent values for silica are based primarily on epidemilogical studies of Vermont granite workers and other occupationally exposed workers. In the Vermont study no cases of silicosis were seen in individuals employed after dust control measures were initiated and whose subsequent exposure averaged less than 5 mppcf. The free silica concentration in the airborne dust to which these workers were exposed averaged 25%. A concentration of 10 mppcf of granite dust is considered equivalent to 0.1 mg/m3 quartz. The current respirable mass standard allows a maximum silica concentration of 0.1 mg/m3. NIOSH (1974) has recommended a reduction in the current TLV for respirable silica to 0.05 mg/m3 Si02. As with radiation standards, the TLV for mineral dusts is an upper limit for time weighted average exposure. It is recommended that dust concentrations be maintained as far below the TLV as current practices permit. RADIATION STANDARDS The present concentration limit for airborne natural uranium in ore dust prior to chemical separation is 75 µg of uranium per m3 of air ( 10 CFR 20, 1980) . This corresponds to 1.85 Bq/m3 (50 pCi/m3 ) of natural uranium, U-238, U-235 and U-234 and is equivalent to 3.7 Bq/m3 (100 pCi/m3 ) of gross alpha activity with radioactive equilibrium between the long-lived alpha progeny through Ra-226. The origin or basis for this standard is not known, but it presumably includes both chemical toxicity and risk from somatic radiation injury. Recently the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP, 1977) has published recommendations concerning the objectives and criteria for limiting radiation exposures. This was followed b y a revision of the limits for intake of radionuclides by workers (ICRP, 1979; ICRP, 1980). The previous compilation of limits for internal emitters was published by ICRP Committee II in 1959 (ICRP, 1959). The Minerals Availability Program is a Bureau of Mines Program to systematically measure and classify identified worldwide nonfuel mineral resources according to their respective extraction technology, economics, and commercial availability. The program is designed to identify, collect, compile, and evaluate information on worldwide active mines as well as on developed and explored mineral deposits, and on mineral processing plants. Objectives are to classify domestic and foreign resources, to identify by cost evaluations resources that are reserves, and to prepare analyses of the availability of these resources for 34 commodities and secondary minerals. Availability analyses consider such factors as geographic location, the type of producible material, the technology and time required to produce a marketable product, and the productive capacity and unit cost for each deposit. These factors, reflected in the aggregated tabular and graphical data in the study for each commodity, are developed for consideration in the formulation of both domestic and foreign mineral policy. To date, the data have been collected for the 34 commodities and the availability analyses are in various stages of completion; expected first cycle completion date for all 34 is early 1986. Raw and aggregated data are available to the public in the form of computer-generated listings, tapes, and maps as well as in published reports. Also, systems developed to assist in performing the engineering and economic c analyses, including the computerized economic evaluation program (MINSIM) and the cost estimating system (CES), are available.

INTRODUCTION Construction is underway on a laboratory cavern 713 m below surface at the Soudan Mine, Tower-Soudan State Park, in northeastern Minnesota. The 13.9 in wide by 11.6 m high by 71.8 in long cavern will provide a laboratory space for basic research in physics, in which experiments can be conducted with greatly reduced interference from cosmic radiation. A first generation experiment, called the Soudan 1 detector, is currently operating in a converted drift 591 in below surface at the mine. The initial phase of the Soudan 2 detector will be an 1100-metric ton unit, which will occupy approximately a 19 m length of the cavern. Control and monitoring equipment will be in a prefabricated shop office enclosure erected in the cavern. The location and planned usage for the laboratory cavern present special excavation, lining, and outfitting requirements. Temperature and humidity control, a relatively clean dust-free environment, and a long service life are required. Low cost and risk to the owner were basic requirements due to the nature of the funding. The most common type of site selected to meet these two constraints is either an operational mine or a civil works facility such as a road tunnel. There are often serious problems for such laboratories because of ongoing operations such as blasting, hauling, etc. Most of these problems do not exist for the Soudan 2 laboratory because the mine is used as a historical site with regular tours only in the summer season. Basic process control is an integral part of most mineral processing plants. It is widely acknowledged to have helped many operations reduce costs and increase productivity and performance. The research community is very active in the development and evaluation of both model based and Al techniques for advanced control applications. Vendors and specialist consulting or engineering firms are in business to help deliver these solutions to the plant floor. It would seem that there is a good balance between business needs and technology, and that the industry should be moving steadily forward in an aggressive pursuit of plant-wide automation. However on closer examination one sees some systemic problems which are sewing to inhibit progress. One of the mist obvious manifestations is the gap which exists between the available technology and current This paper explores the control of mineral processing systems, with a particular emphasis on some of these problem areas.

Introduction The Bailey mining complex is located in Greene County, PA, in the Talley Run valley. It includes two Pittsburgh No. 8 seam deep mines (Bailey and Bailey No. 2), a coal preparation plant, and two refuse areas. Clean coal is shipped from the complex by way of a 24-km (15-mile) rail spur. It con¬nects to the Monongahela Railroad in Waynesburg, PA. In early 1981, Consolidation Coal Co. (Consol) began a permitting effort aimed at building the mine. Construction began in Dec. 1981, less than six months after the first application submittal. Clean coal was produced by the Bailey preparation plant in Sept. 1984. Several factors allowed quick permitting at Bailey. Effective project planning, including early formulation of a project planning team, and identification of red flag issues helped. So did innovative responses to environmental questions, and development of environmentally sound project designs. Forming a project planning team Consol management decided that Bailey mine construction had to begin in late 1981. A project permitting team was immediately formed to see that this goal was achieved. Team members included a project manager and personnel from Consol's engineering, environmental, and operating departments. Communications among all team members was crucial in obtaining the various state and Federal environmental permits. All project permitting team members participated in weekly meetings during application preparation. Discussions at these meetings ranged from recent public contacts, to application content, to environmental design considerations. Establishing a project manager was critical to the team's success. The project manager was responsible for seeing that permit acquisition, facility construction, and operation of the mining complex proceeded on schedule. The project manager had the final word, mediated disagreements, and frequently served as project spokesman to the public. Identifying red flag issues Red flag issues are those environmental factors with the most potential for delaying the schedule or stopping the project. The first red flag issue identified was organized local opposition. In 1989, worldwide total mineral industry activity registered advances from 1988. The advances may not have been as noteworthy as in 1988, but they can be regarded as a worthy theme for this article. The momentous political events throughout the centrally planned economy world had only a modest impact on actual 1989 industry performance. But these events have such potential for worldwide changes in economic activity in future years that they dwarf the actual happenings of 1989 in the minerals industry. Perhaps most significant factor here is the rapidity with which these changes have occurred. The end of World War II saw the almost immediate division of the world into major economic blocs. Since then, mineral industry activities and other industrial operations have been governed, to a considerable extent, by this partitioning. The developed market economy nations have operated as a group, the centrally planned economy states as another group. And these two groups essentially have vied for recognition in mineral industry operations in the developing economy states of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The boundaries of these country blocs were fixed in the late 1940s and early 1950s. They were not markedly altered in the ensuing 40 years. We have seen the establishment of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, the continued Arab-Israeli confrontations in the Near East, the upheavals surrounding the rise of Moslem Fundamentalism in Iran, and the establishment of Soviet-oriented governments in Cuba and Nicaragua. These events have had notable effects on the world economy. But they have done little to change the pattern of market economy states functioning as a competitive bloc with the centrally-planned economy countries.

Drilling was not entirely satisfactory in the search for native copper in the Osceola amygdaloid footwall as mining showed oreshoots to be more continuous than drilling indicated. The Geophysics Department of Michigan Technological University developed a portable induced polarization drill hole probe with a 3 electrode configuration and a sampling radius of 5'± A 20 ma current of alternately reversed polarity is pulsed at 3.5 sec. intervals and readings are taken every two feet. Potential is read during the "on" cycle for resistivity determinations. During the "off" cycle, after 10 ms delay, the I.P. potential is sampled for 10 ms and recorded. Resistivity (ohm-feet) and "S" values (mv/v) are plotted on semi-log paper. A lithologic log is plotted based on resistivity and anomalous "S" values noted. The low resistivity amygdaloid contains sills of high resistivity basaltic trap. Verified by core logs, amygdaloid-trap contacts could be picked to ±.5' from resistivity alone. Lithologic logs of long steel holes, based' on resistivity, now replaced sludge logging. An "S" value of 30 mv/v was established as the lower limit of diagnostic I.P. effects in mineralized amygdaloid and 50 mv/v as a threshold value for ore. Of 914 footwall zones drilled, 315 were probed yielding 203 anomalies. Success increased from 34% for drilling to 72% for drilling and probing. As checked by mining, 46 probe results were 78% correct. Failures were due to the instrument not detecting copper or to the misinterpretation of an anomaly. No false anomalies were found.
