In the spring of 1959 while visiting the offices of the US Geological Survey (USGS) in the Denver Federal Center, I had a chance encounter with Paul Theobold, a former but, at that time, casual associate. Paul mentioned to me the results of his work on stream sediment geochemistry (Theobold and Thompson, 1959). Using panned concentrates, Theobold and Thompson had discovered a tungsten anomaly in Clear Creek and followed it upstream to its source on Woods Creek, a small tributary to the West Fork of Clear Creek. The specific source was a debris cone about 0.8 km (0.5 mile) upstream from the mine yard at the Urad molybdenite deposit. Because of the genetic and zonal association of tungsten and molybdenum at Climax, I found this very interesting. Accordingly, I related this information to Robert Henderson, general manager of western operations for Climax, and asked his permission to do some follow-up work. He, in turn, telephoned Frank Coolbaugh, the president of Amax, telling him of my interest and saying that, "Climax would take care of it." On my first visit to Urad, my companions (Dave Jonson, Bruce MacKenzie, and Dick Baker) and I were confronted by a "Cousin Jack" caretaker who made up for his diminutive stature by a "pistolover" that hung down almost to his knee and by a watchdog that was one-half wolf and one-half mean sled dog. We retreated discretely to Clear Creek and then climbed up the "back" side of Red Mountain by separate routes, across the ridge crest, and part of the way down the "front" side, sampling as we went. Although much of the ground was covered with snow, we found lots of puzzling but friendly looking rocks and the geochemical results were interesting. Geochemical static tests are a basic component of geochemical assessments and predictions for acidic drainage, and include acid-base accounting and total-metal contents. A key database for such information is the International Static Database (ISD), which currently contains more than 45,000 static-test analyses from over 200 minesites. Such large databases are useful in identifying general trends and, just as important, the percentage of exceptions. General trends and significant exceptions can be seen in the ISD by comparing one parameter against another. This paper shows that bulk neutralization potential (bulk NP) obtained from acid titration is often a good indicator of neutralizing capacity above values of 10 t CaCO3/1000 t. Other types of calculated neutralizing capacity are then compared to bulk NP to determine if they, in fact, reliably represent actual neutralizing capacity and if they can substitute for the more time-consuming and expensive bulk NP. For example, bulk NP correlates better with Carbonate NP (from carbonate analyses) and Total-carbon NP (from total-carbon analyses) than with (Ca+Mg) CaNP (from solid-phase analyses of calcium and magnesium). This means that, in general, (Ca+Mg) CaNP is a less accurate substitute for bulk NP than the other types, and thus requires intensive site-specific justification if a substitution is attempted. This also means that measurement of the frequently less-expensive parameters of total carbon and carbonate can often substitute, within site-specific error bars, for the bulk-NP titration. However, the ISD also shows that non-carbonate minerals make the primary contribution to neutralization in up to 20% of samples, so Carbonate CaNP and Total-carbon CaNP do not always reveal the full neutralizing capacity of a sample.

Hydromagnesite (Mg5(CO3).(OH)2.4H20), one of the sedimentary deposits in Salda Lake Basin, is developed under the control of active tectonics regime. Since the occurrence and deposition mechanism of hydromagnesite are unstable under atmospheric conditions, in order to evaluate the precipitation process, systematic host rock, lake water (surface, 20m, 40m, 60m) and hydromagnesite sampling were carried out. Macro, micro, XRD and chemical investigations were done in detail. Not only the results and formation and crystallization mechanism but also hydromagnesite's St values were evaluated. Main resources could be ultramaficmafic surrounding rocks for hydromagnesite formations. However, hydromagnesite development is considered in different phases, because it has showed various characteristics in Kayadibi and Köpekcayin areas. In Kayadibi area Huntide-Dolomite-Aragonite-Hydromagnesite paragenesis has been realized. Hydromagnesite has also formed in Köpekcayiri area, large amount of hyrdomagnesite occurrences and levels various are noticeable. Actual position of hydromagresite levels exhibits tectonic influences in and around the lake. Therefore, the levels seems to exhibit secondary formation properties. In addition, the formations are being still maintained sedimentation as products of a peripheral deposition phases. Resolving and redifferentiation sedimentation processes probably improve in periods of lake water chemistry especially Ca/Mg proportional changes, and also SI variations indicate the mentioned precipitation mechanism. Similarly, side and into the lake hydromagnesite is stored different levels and ultramafics-mafics rocks fallow indicated stages. It is postulated that hydromagnesite formation, which is existed by result of determined developments and multiphase sedimentation, could be originated from probable crack zones on the lake bottom.

The balance of knowledge and understanding among these participants combined with the competition for capital, contributes to the standards for our mining market in a way that the market operator simply cannot replicate by market rules alone.

The use of paste technology for underground cemented backfill is widely accepted in the mining industry today as a potentially cost effective alternative to cemented rock and hydraulic slurry fill. While paste backfill is not the appropriate backfilling method for all mines, there are presently 23 operating tailings paste backfill plants throughout the world. This new technology has gained increasing acceptance as a backfill method over the last decade and its use is now expanding into the surface disposal of tailings using the stacked, thickened tailings disposal concept. Over the next 18 months there will be ten new paste plants commissioned in the world. Five of these ten plants will be used exclusively for surface tailings disposal or a combination of surface disposal and underground backfill production. The thickened tailings disposal concept, developed by Dr. Eli Robinsky in the early 1970's, has been in use for decades at several mine sites throughout the world (Kidd Creek Mine site in Northern Ontario), but always utilizing non segregating high density tailings slurry central discharge, stacked tailings placement. With the use of a higher solids content paste, the typical 2-degree beach angle can be increased to ten degrees or more with no runoff water and minimal shrinkage crack development through desiccation. This paper presents the design of the first mine to implement true surface paste disposal, Barrick Gold Corp's Bulyanhulu Mine in Tanzania. The paste system will be commissioned in the first quarter of 2001 allowing performance data to be collected to define the full potential of paste technology for surface tailings disposal.

A novel liquid-liquid separation for the recovery of free or liberated gold from mixtures of fine particles was evaluated. Two inexpensive and environmentally benign fluids were selected for the study, water and carbon dioxide. The separation, which is conducted at 295 K and at the vapor pressure of carbon dioxide (6.0 MPa), is based on differences in wettability between the precious metals and other minerals. Contact-angle results indicated that, in the presence of water and liquid CO2, gold is slightly hydrophobic. The addition of CO2-soluble fluoroalkyl thiols or f uoroetherthiols increased the hydrophobicity of gold exposed to water and CO2 to a greater extent than alkylthiols. Minerals, including quartz, pyrite and magnetite, were hydrophilic. During the separation, an aqueous slurry of fine mineral and gold particles was mixed with liquid carbon dioxide. Pure gold particles (-325 mesh) were found to agglomerate at the H2O-CO2 interface. The minerals tended to remain in the aqueous phase. Despite these promising preliminary results, very poor gold recoveries were obtained when applying the procedure to an Australian gravity concentrate. This was attributed to the native gold particles in the concentrate being either too large, agglomerated in slimes or coated with minerals. Although this particular application was unsuccessful, this water-CO2 biphase technique may be applicable for other separations that require the removal of very fine, hydrophobic particles from an aqueous slurry.

In the mining and processing industry, the maintenance plan has often evolved rather than being consciously set up resulting in an overreliance on breakdown and fixed-time maintenance (planned maintenance). Historically mining and processing plant equipment has been robust and less automated than modem equipment, making it relatively easy to work on. Mining and processing plants have relied on large and expensive maintenance departments to enable rapid attention to breakdowns. Maintenance itself can result in excessive downtime and costs. This results from the requirement to take the machinery off-line to carry out (possibly unnecessary and invasive) maintenance. The danger of infant mortality after it has been put back on line again and also the cost of the maintenance action itself contributes to costs. A goal of any well-run maintenance program is to have the lowest cost while providing 100% capacity 100% of the time to operations. When maintenance investments are at a minimum, the cost of lost production is at its highest. As maintenance effort and investments are intelligently increased, the production loss gradually decreases until the lowest combined cost is achieved. This is the maintenance goal. A road map is needed to achieving maintenance excellence. This article addresses a "Road Map" to achieving maintenance excellence. INTRODUCTION The increasing price of gold and silver over the past 10 years has caused increasing activity in the exploration, evaluation and development of precious metals projects. Many of these deposits are relatively low grade and short lived which makes them economically sensitive to the major project variables such as metal price, capital cost, operating cost and of course, tonnage and grade. These deposits often have a high variability (a coefficient of variation -- o/u -- of 2 to 5) and an intermixing of ore and waste, making ac- curate ore reserve estimation difficult, especially when using traditional estimation techniques. Often, the estimation errors are not the 10-20% that we see in base metal deposits, but the errors in grade and tonnage can be as high as 50%, which can obviously have a very substantial impact on project Recent developments in geostatistics when coupled with a sound geologic under- standing of the deposit can significantly improve reserve estimates of these variable precious metals deposits. Examples will be given of actual deposits where the traditional estimates were significantly different from the mining reality. An attempt will be made to explain the applicable geostatistical tools with a minimum of geostatistical jargon and without complicated formulas. The key to improving the reserve estimates is a clear understanding of the deposit geology and especially the structural controls, the use of local estimation techniques that recognize the intermixing of ore and waste and the effect of selective mining on recoverable reserves, and the use of a global reserve estimation technique to check the results of local estimation. Geologic Controls The vast majority of gold and silver deposits being mined or developed in the western United States would be classified as epithermal deposits. These are formed by hydrothermal fluids (hot water) flowing upward through the rocks and depositing the precious metals as the fluids cool or reach areas of lower pressure or favorable chemical sites. These environments are similar to present day hot springs-type environments with some deposits being clearly associated with surface hot springs such as the Homestake McLaughlin deposit in northern California. These hydrothermal deposits can occur in sedimentary rocks resulting in deposits such as those of the Carlin district or the Jerritt Canyon deposit or the hydrothermal systems can occur in volcanic rocks forming deposits such as Round Mountain, Manhattan or Paradise Peak. The mechanisms of formation were similar in either case with the solution flow controlled by geologic structure and precious metals deposited when the conditions of temperataure, pressure and chemical environment were favorable. The gold and silver hearing solutions travel through permeable faults and fracture systems depositing the metals along these channels. The grades are often highest in the central parts of these conduits (veins) with lower grades in the surrounding rocks. An understanding of the nature, distribution and orientation of these plumbing systems is important to a realistic reserve estimate. The point to be emphasized here is that, good, sound geology in the form of geologic mapping, logging of rotary chip samples and a few carefully logged core holes can signifi- cantly improve an ore reserve estimate.

The Mesquite mine is being operated by Gold Fields Operating Co.-Mesquite, a subsidiary of Gold Fields Mining Corp. The mine Is located in southeastern California about 56 km (35 miles) east of the farming community of Brawley, California. The mine has been in commercial production since early 1986 and Is a conventional open pit mine developed on 6.1 m (20 foot) benches. The gold is recovered by heap leach using permanent heaps built in multiple 6.1 m (20 foot) lifts. This year's gold production will be in the range of 5,600 kg (180,000 troy ounces). Current ore production is about 18,140 tonnes (20,000 tons) per day while the total tons mined Is averaging 65,000 tonnes (72,000 tons) per day. The climate at the mine is extremely arid with rainfall of 7.6 cm (3 inches) per year. From early May until late October daytime temperatures generally exceed 37.8 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) and can be as high as 37.9 degrees Celsius (120 degrees Fahrenheit).

North American mining companies are lagging behind their global competitors in participating in the outstanding opportunities in India. The Indian government has liberalized foreign equity participation in the mining sector by up to 50% and, in some cases, even higher. Delegates from Europe, North America and South Africa learned this at an information seminar held in London, England, Attendees were welcomed by L.M. Singhvi, the UK's high commissioner for India. He introduced a government of India delegation headed by B.P. Baishya, minister of steel and mines. Singhvi is an eminent jurist and leading constitutional expert. He reiterated the soundness of India's legal system. He also outlined the recent Investment Protection Treaty between India and the United Kingdom. Baishya emphasized thee geological diversity and strengths of India's domestic market with its population of more than 920 million people the second largest in the world after China and its reservoir of skilled labor. He also outlined the potential of India's untapped natural resources. The private sector is the backbone of the Indian economy. It accounts for 75% of gross domestic product (GDP). The current minimum program of the new United Front government envisions 12% growth in the industrial sector, 7% in GDP and direct foreign investment of US$10 billion a year. "Mining is an area that can attract a sizable part of this investment," Baishya said. "Projected growth of the Indian economy will require increasingly large quantities of basic raw materials, such as coal and base- and precious-metals to meet the needs of domestic and export markets." Administration of India's mining sector is divided into the Ministry or Mines for regulating and developing the country's mineral resources, five public sector Mining Enterprises, the Geological-Survey of India (GSI), the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM)and 25 states and seven Union Territories. The GSI is the second oldest (founded in 1851) and the third largest organization of its kind in the world, Baishya said. It has geologically mapped more than 90% of India's 3.2 million kmz (1.2 million sq miles) at a scale of 1:50,000. Several promising mineral projects have emerged from regional exploration programs conducted by GSI and the Mines and Geology State Governments. IBM recently completed a national mineral inventory. It covers 13,000 deposits/prospects of 61 nonferrous minerals. GSI also compiled a similar inventory on 61 coal fields. India is attractive to exploration companies for several reasons. These include favorable geology, accessible locations and a large mineral database. India also has many experienced geoscientists with well-equipped and efficient laboratories, Baishya said. Secretary to the Ministry of Mines A.C. Sen emphasized the largely untapped-geological and mining potential of India. He also discussed the new vistas that have opened up opportunities for exploration and mining. India has large quantities of mineral reserves, Sen said. Its vast Precambrian Shield - like those in Canada and Australia - is endowed with gold, platinum group and base metals, as well as coal and industrial minerals. Annual mineral production is valued at more than US$7 billion. Sen pointed out that India is the largest single consumer of gold. And domestic gold prices command at least a 20% premium above international prices. Recent diamond, gold and base-metal discoveries and prospects uncovered by GSI have generated investment interest from abroad, he added Delegates heard that the Indian Constitution gives the central government the job of framing legislation and the regulation and development of minerals. This ensures that mineral laws are uniform throughout the country. However, the right to grant mineral concessions, such as prospecting licenses and mining leases, rests with the minerals' owner. In India's case, that is the state government. The Indian government has formulated several guidelines that regulate the granting of prospecting licenses for large areas. ? The central government will consider the requests of state governments for the granting of prospecting licenses for areas exceeding 25 kmz (9.6 sq miles). But the license must include a provision to conduct aerial prospecting of the area. ? Any prospecting licensing area should not exceed 5,000 kmz (1,930 sq miles). for a single license. And the total area held by one company should not exceed 10,000 km2 (3,861 sq miles) for the whole country. ? The grant of larger areas will be linked to a mini- mum expenditure commitment on physical targets. State governments will monitor these expenditures. ? The granting of large areas for prospecting will be linked to a schedule of relinquishment.

On Nov. 4, 1981 A/S Sydvaranger's 1-kt/h (1,100-stph) wet-process, iron ore ball mill completed its first four months of uninterrupted, full-load operation in Kirkenes, Norway. This 6.5-m-diam (21-ft-diam) mill is driven by a gearless ring or wraparound 8.1-MW (10,860-hp) motor at 13.1 rpm-a first of a kind in this segment of industry. This article examines reasons for selecting this type of drive over more conventional schemes, lists specific advantages of such large mills, and describes the installation in Norway. History For almost a decade, good operating experiences have been gained with 28 gearless ring motor drives in the cement industry, driving 2.5 to 4-m-diam (8.2 to 13-ft-diam) tube mills with drive powers ranging from about 3-4 MW (4,000 - 8,000 hp). Why then did the mineral ore processing industry hesitate until 1980 to adopt this successful concept for similar applications on ball, semiautogenous, and autogenous mills? There are a number of good reasons in the eyes of conservative mill builders and operators, the most commonly cited ones are: • No operating experience in this segment of specialized industry. • More severe environmental conditions in the wet ore grinding process. • An indifferent attitude of mill builders and electric motor manufacturers towards new drive technologies. • Limited confidence in solid-state power supply systems, such as frequency converters of the required size. There have been and still are numerous problems associated with low-speed geared mill drives of any kind, especially with individual motor/gear sizes approaching or exceeding about 4 MW (5,360 hp). Every mill builder knows about them, but operators learn to accept them as inevitable. The Decision to Change Three things combined to break this technological stalemate: the courage and progressive spirit of one major iron ore processor in Scandinavia, the cooperation of three experienced manufacturers, and an unusual application problem that could not be solved by any conventional approach. The last factor was surely the decisive one, but the first one does not come as a surprise either. The Swedes near Kiruna and the Norwegians around Kirkenes are experienced ore miners and processors, and much credit goes to them for technological breakthroughs in the industry. At A/S Sydvaranger in Kirkenes, above the Polar circle at about the latitude of Alaska's northern tip, the existing grinding facilities, with a total of 14 100 to 240-t/h (110 to 264-stph) ball mills, can not be expanded. Nevertheless, to increase mill throughput, only installing a larger mill in place of an existing smaller one was a practical alternative. For this replacement, the owners set requirements that seemed impossible to meet: • The old 100-t/h (110-stph) ball mill should be replaced with a new ball mill with 10 times the rated throughput, without significantly impairing the operation of the remaining mills, and without significantly changing the mill building. • The new mill should have a variable-speed drive to ultimately optimize the grinding process by means of a closed-loop process¬computer-controlled grinding cycle, and to minimize the specific energy consumption. • Availability, efficiency, and life expectancy of all new components must be higher than those being replaced. • Inrush-current and harmonic loads on the rather weak electric supply line must be minimized to ensure safe plant operation. All old ball mills at A/S Sydvaranger are the geared type, using single synchronous and wound-rotor, slow-speed motors with ring-and-pinion gears. Operators are familiar with the limitations and problems associated with such drives, and they are aware that the following items become major concerns when drive powers are drastically increased: • Gears are subject to wear and tear, require frequent maintenance, and eventual replacement of major parts. • Gears are sensitive to misalignment, overload, and thermal distortion, limiting their useful life. • On dual or quadruple drives, load-sharing and torque oscillations between motors can be a major reason for concern. • At these speeds, ring-and-pinion gears reach their torque transmission capabilities altogether at around 4 MW (5,360 hp) per motor/pinion. To obtain the desired variable-speed performance of the new drive, the only practical and economical conventional solution would have been a frequency-controlled, low- or medium-speed dual motor drive with about 8 MW (10,720 hp) of power. This, however, was not feasible because of limited floor space. Therefore, bids were solicited for the alternative drive method, the gearless ring motor. General Considerations Why are such large mills considered? After all, one could avoid all the problems by simply staying with smaller mill unit sizes. Under competitive pressures of free markets, however, grinding efficiencies and specific energy consumption become key factors in selecting new equipment. Demand by precious metals explorationists for cost effective means to target subsurface geologic structures worthy of evaluation by means of drilling has led to the use of the predictor-correlator technique. To locate polarizable targets, the predictor-a localized inhomogeneity in electrical properties-is placed at various locations in the computer-simulated subsurface region, and correlated with the potential distribution observed in the field. The correlation coefficient obtained is assigned to the subsurface location. IP targets are extracted by calculating a second correlation section based on higher-frequency illumination and subtracting it from the first. The locations of correlation difference correspond to the locations of polarizable mineralization.

The Rio Tinto-Zinc Corporation Limited (RTZ), through it exploration company Riofinex, commenced exploration for bauxite in the Amazonia region of Brazil during 1970. Following' encouraging indications, exploration licences were taken out and an exploration programme was initiated In February 1975, a preliminary 'feasibility report indicated that a project, based on the Miltonia plateau located close to the town of Paragominas in the State of Para, was viable and that barging might offer an economic solution to getting the product to an ocean-going port. A, decision was taken in April 1975 to proceed with a full feasibility study. In the latter stages of the study, an engineering consortium of Mendes Junior and Bechtel do Brasil was employed to review, and modify if necessary, the concepts that RTZ had developed for the project's operation. With these concepts agreed, the consortium was requested to make capital and operating cost estimates, and these became available during February 1978. The deposit is being developed by a Brazilian company Mineracao Vera Cruz S.A. (MVC) in which the present share-holding is owned 64 percent by RTZ and 36 percent by Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD). RTZ is a British based international group of mining and industrial companies with interests in almost every major metal and fuel. CVRD is a Brazilian mining company, 85 percent owned by the Brazilian Government, with a major interest in iron ore and also other non-ferrous metals. It is intended, in due course, that the company will become majority owned by Brazilian interests.

In recent years, miners have tried many approaches to maintenance such as: - Highly sophisticated computerized programs. - large planning groups designed to preplan and schedule work. - Contract maintenance. - Break down maintenance. Each of these approaches has faced the added constraints: - High replacement cost of equipment necessitating longer useful equipment life - management?s increased scrutiny of all indirect costs such as maintenance. Faced with these factors, what system of maintenance control is right? After visiting many properties recently, it appears there is no right system. Maintenance programs need to be tailored to the people and production constraints that occur at an individual property.

As Assistant Director for Program Support for the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM), a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Interior, I am responsible for the regulatory and abandoned mine land programs under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977, which governs the environmental impacts of coal mining. My perspective is influenced by my current position and my previous positions in government and private industry. Sustainability is a cooperative effort of many parties and can only be achieved if each assumes their responsibilities for making it happen. I will highlight some of my thoughts on the role of government in achieving sustainability in the mining arena.

The growing demand for rare earth elements (REEs) has led to numerous recent studies to recover these elements from various bearing ores and wastes. Therefore, the recovery of REEs from Ras Baroud polymetallic concentrate has been investigated in the current study. Physical beneficiation for the Ras Baroud pegmatite sample was carried out, yielding a concentrate for euxenite (Y), fergusonite (Y), xenotime (Y), monazite (Ce), allanite, thorite, uranothorite and Hf-zircon, which resulted in raising the concentrations of REEs, Th, Zr, U and Ti in the sample. Fusion digestion processes with sodium hydroxide were studied using the conceived predictive diagonal (CPD) technique. The three experimental digestion groups proved the dissolution of 99.9, 95.6, 99.9, 52.5 and 0.47 percent for REEs, Th, U, Ti and Zr, respectively, under fusion conditions of 723 K, 120 min, 1/1.5 ore-to-alkali ratio, and smaller than 100-μm particle sizes. Fusion kinetics, isotherms and thermodynamics were investigated using several suggested models, namely, pseudo reversible first order, uptake general model and shrinking core model, which matched well with the experimental digestion results. Selective recovery of actinide content from the REE content of the digested concentrate chloride solutions was accomplished using solvent extraction with di-2-ethyl hexyl phosphoric acid. About 99.9, 99.9 and 4.2 percent extraction efficiencies for Th, U and REEs were realized, respectively, using 0.3 mol/L solvent concentration in kerosene as a diluent, 1/2 organic-to-aqueous ratio, aqueous pH of 0.2 and contact time of 15 min. Thorium and uranium ions were stripped with 2.5 mol/L sulfuric acid solution with 94 and 98 percent stripping efficiency, respectively. A highly purified REE precipitate was obtained from the raffinate solutions. Zircon mineralization tailings were obtained as a byproduct through the alkaline digestion process.

In this study, with the primary goal of capturing ongoing digital transformation and automation impacts on the mining industry and its workforce, we conduct several interviews with mining industry experts in the United States and analyze our survey reports qualitatively and quantitatively through exploratory analysis. After the interpretation of the insights of industry experts, we proceed to generate a personalized and customized data analysis through a novel metric based on skills, knowledge, competencies and occupational requirements, which quantifies the job similarities for occupations in the mining industry based on the publicly available database of the U.S. Department of Labor. We use text analytics to tokenize and classify the interviews to capture a better understanding of major response categories. The temporal analysis shows that the critical competency needs in the data science and autonomy category increases from 28 percent in current demands to 43 percent. In defining our metric, we also calculate Kullback–Leibler (KL) divergence for each job profile that enables determining whether and to what extent that job is transitionary in our test set based on the mean, standard deviation and kurtosis of each job of interest. Our analysis reveals that the in-group job transitions are significantly easier than the between-group transitions, proving our initial assumptions and common sense. The generated heat maps provide the opportunity to present the gap between the current job and desired job profiles that provide feasible career change options, among others, offering individualized career paths for job seekers and promoting potential job transitions. Through the collection of industry-specific individual employee data, the AI system is envisaged to continue to learn as end users engage with the system, thus creating a central data hub specifically for the future workforce in the mining industry. Although the study has limitations on generalizability for qualitative assessments, it presents itself as a valuable application of how qualitative and quantitative approaches could be of value for future worker training in the mining sector.
